Vesta (& Virgo energy)

Updated: Mar 15

How is everyone feeling after that Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo? (really we’re still in the energy of it now)

As someone with a Virgo Stellium, I definitely notice when the Moon is in Virgo. I usually feel more clarity and I seem to operate in a smoother way (I know that many don’t feel the same way though). But this one (as an Eclipse) was really INTENSE. Like overly intense! Like SO intense! (what’s the word for “intense X’s 2,000?)

Not bad.

But intense.

And was accompanied by a visit from the Dark Goddesses.

But I'll get into that in a minute.

First of all, let's talk about Vesta!

In “traditional” Astrology, Virgo is ruled by Mercury. I can see this….yes. But what has always zinged me more is…Vesta!

In my heart, Virgo is ruled by Vesta.

Vesta is the brightest asteroid in the sky. She represents the sacred flame….from a small spark to a massive bonfire. Vesta is associated with the hearth, a symbol for warmth (but also the hearth is the center of the home…which is very important to understand when seeking to truly know Her). Vesta also means “focus.” She understands that it takes devotion to sustain passion and life-giving energy. She cares for the internal fire always, creating sanctuaries of healing, nourishment and protection for all who encounter Her.

Vesta is often associated with the Vestal Virgins of ancient Rome, the Priestesses who tended to the ever-glowing fire beneath the city (think of the symbolism and power of that….tending to the fire beneath. This is yummy Underworld energy). But I must point out that the essence of the word ‘virgin’ has been distorted over time. It’s now come to mean celibate, or untouched (someone who hasn’t had sex). But “Virgin” originally meant unmarried, and not legally bound. So Virgin was an expression of someone who was “self-possessed”, not belonging to anyone but themselves.

When my Guides came in and first started teaching me about Vesta they said “She is one who belongs to no man. She is sovereign”.

Some other writings talk about how these Moon Priestesses were sexually independent. Their desire was primarily to transmit the energy of the Goddess.

Vesta’s symbol, the sacred flame, symbolizes the secret powers of transformation. Vesta (and the highest expression of Virgo) is about devotion. When one commits and devotes to their goals, reclaims autonomy, and engages with spirituality, the Vesta archetype can thrive within them (and their lives!) Vesta rules over areas of life like…social service, sex work, modern priestesses, and fire rituals. And essentially anything that is of service to humanity (and what could be of more service to humanity than helping everyone reclaim their sovereignty?!!?)

In the Virgo archetype, Vesta focuses on her work. Virgo ethics include dedication, discipline, perfectionism, and service. One of my dear friends recently described Virgo energy to me with one perfect word: precision.

Virgo (in its highest expression) uses precision and dedication to be of service to humanity. And to tend the flames that nourish us all. Virgo hones a diversity of skills to be able to serve. Virgo energy works with intense devotion to perfect their craft….and it’s all to be able to serve humanity.

What devotion!

Priestess energy INDEED!

Vesta (in Virgo energy) needs the opportunity to fulfill their sacred calling. Whether it be due to societal pressures, discrimination, and/or sacrifices for family and relationships, there are many barriers to achieving a self-directed path. Even so, Vesta types will always maintain that spark of the fire/flame and desire to pursue their passion….and [hopefully] NEVER stop until they attain complete sovereignty.

As I ponder on the energy of Vesta, I find myself endlessly wanting more. Wanting to get to know Her more. Wanting to understand Her more. And I have found that this desire is ultimately a desire to get to know MySelf more and to be able to understand MySelf more fully (and deeply). If nothing else, claiming my sovereignty in its most full expression is the ultimate goal.

Those who are sovereign are free.

Those who are free are impossible to control.

Oh yeah….let’s give ‘em HELL!

And now it’s making so much sense that when I sat at my Altar yesterday to connect with the energy of this Virgo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, the Dark Goddesses came in. First entered Medusa and I was like “Well, hello Goddess” and then they all came in. Kali, Oya, Hecate, Pele, Eris, Santa Muerte, Ereshkigal, Lillith, Persephone, Hel (etc). And then even Nut, Bast & Venus came in (those that I didn’t think of previously as in the “dark goddess” category). What commenced was a whole evening/ceremony/ritual of Sisterhood. And there is nothing like the feeling of true Sisterhood.

At one point They said to me “The Dark Goddesses don’t just destroy (although, yes). We also uphold. And the number one thing we love to uphold is…our Sisters”.

I felt Them encircle me and love me up. They rubbed my shoulders. They hugged me. They kissed my forehead (and crown chakra). They reached into my chest and filled my Heart with the fiery passionate flame. They upheld me.

And I remain upheld by Them still.

Priestess energy INDEED!

I am sending much love to you all during these intensely wonderful triggering awful delightful exciting prophetic times! Mwah!
